Otto’s Making Progress on Day 2 Post-Op

Otto is doing very well on day 2 post-op! We had a rough afternoon yesterday after he arrived home. It took some time for him to get used to his new space and he was very nervous going outside to use the bathroom. He ended up laying down to pee the first time 😞. BUT, we continued to encourage him and the more we took him out, the more confident he got and is doing much better today. We have walked him around a little more today and he is getting used to his new hop—our 3 year old thinks it’s funny and giggles! Hey, we can all have a little giggle, right? The more positive we can all be around him the better so we think it’s ok 😊! We are looking forward to watching the progression each and everyday. We can already see his determination and know he’ll be back to his crazy self in no time!

  1. Glad Otto is doing well. I take Jackie is for her amputation of her rear left leg. Recent diagnosis of Synovial Cell Sarcoma. Quite nervous.

    1. Thank you! We were very nervous as well and still are. We are just taking it day by day. Being positive, reassuring and giving them tons of kisses and cuddles is all we can do to support them through this and honestly, they respond so well! We’re right there with you! Best of luck to Jackie and you/your family! We know how you feel ❤️

  2. You bet you can giggle! That’s called Being More Dog! Otto is teaching you well, there is no reason to be sad or dwell on the past. Move forward and get on with life..he’s doing it and wants you to as well.

I’m so glad he’s home. That is a great photo!

You guys have such a terrific attitude, it makes all the difference during recovery. Keep us posted.

    1. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and affirmation that we are doing the best we can for him! The support from this group has been amazing so thank you for all you do for mommy’s and daddy’s to these beautiful babies ❤️

  3. Such a handsome boy!!! Love that mug!!!
Sloooow and easy eight now sweet Otto. Potty break and back in for rest.
Your positive energy is exactly what Otto needs to reassure him that everything is okay. It helps in his healing process in so many ways.
Sometimes, not always, there’s a little bit of a crash arou d day three or so after all the good hospital meds are out of their system. That’s when pain management is so important.
    Keep up the good work!
    Hugs
